What it is
Dance as meditation is as ancient as our humanity. Sacred dance is present in nearly all cultures and many religions. Ecstatic dance is a free form of dance with the intention to achieve ecstasy. This is a natural state in which our awareness shifts and we get to experience a meditative and happy state of mind through body movement. Next to the fact that it is a lot of fun to move our body to music, Ecstatic Dance is also scientifically proven to help our mental & physical health.
During an Estatic Dance Journey at DIMA we join together to create a safe and sacred space for movement. We can dance alone, or with each other, but we always intend to keep the safe container. In Estatic Dance there are no limitations, there is no choreography, there is no set music genre, and most importantly: there is nothing but love and acceptance around you. It is a safe space for you to truly express yourself how you want. We leave our judgements at the door.
There are, however, in general two guidelines for our Estatic Dance Journeys:
1. No consumption of alcohol or drugs. The Estatic Dance floor is not a place to get wasted or artificially high; it is a space for realisation and healing. It is like a dance club but there’s no drugs, no alcohol, no chit-chat, no judgement, no photos, no phones and no shoes.
2. No talking on the dance floor. The Estatic Dance floor is neither a place to socialise. Eliminating talking on the dance floor allows us to move out of our heads and into our bodies, hearts, and souls. We leave behind the words and worries of the day and connect with spirit and one another in new ways.
What you can expect
Dj Shamari Mana builds up a beautiful mix of ethnic, tribal music with electronic beats, where the elements of earth and air are combined. Grounding, uplifting, and well balanced.
About the facilitator
Marie has been travelling the world, and got inspired, along the way to create some conscious musical journeys, where movement is invited as a way of releasing, tuning in, connecting with ourselves and others.
She discovered 5 rhythms dance about 10 years ago and has been introduced to Ecstatic Dance shortly after, it has been a turning point in her own healing journey, and opened many pathways in her life.
When she moved to Mallorca, she felt right away the inspiration to share her passion for musical journeys and create safe spaces to allow free body expression.
